NEW Country Head, Strategy and Growth at Amazon Payment Services in Saudi Arabia
Amazon Payment Services, a payment service provider operating across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, has announced the appointed of Mona Alsemayen as the Country Head, Strategy and Growth for Amazon Payment Services in Saudi Arabia.

An experienced and dynamic professional in the domain of Business Transformation and Payment Systems in the GCC region, Mona brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to her new role, having been responsible for key initiatives and market developments related to Payment Systems at the Saudi Central Bank, in addition to having developed the regional payment network as the Business Director at the Gulf Payments Company (GPC).
Amazon Payment Services currently boasts a team of 15 employees in Saudi Arabia, who serve more than 1,700 merchants and partners in the kingdom by offering a fast, safe and seamless digital payments experience to their customers.

Mona Alsemayen is the Country Head, Strategy and Growth for Amazon Payment Services in Saudi Arabia. A Saudi national, Mona is a highly experienced and dynamic professional in the domain of Business Transformation and Payment Systems with a deep knowledge of the digital payments sector in Saudi Arabia.
In this role, Mona is leading the Amazon Payment Services team through an ambitious period of expansion in Saudi Arabia, enabling the digitization of businesses across all sectors of the economy by reimagining payments in the digital sphere.
Mona began her career in the payments field at Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) as a Digital Payments Policy Specialist, where she was responsible for key initiatives arising from G20 commitments and market developments related to Payment Systems and Services. During this time, Mona fulfilled a variety of policy and leadership roles, as well as representing Saudi Arabia on several international committees.
In 2018, Mona joined the newly formed Gulf Payments Company (GPC), established by a GCC Supreme Council resolution, to build and develop a system that connects all payment systems in the GCC through an independent company jointly funded by the central banks of the GCC nations. During this time, she led the Business Development, Business Operations, and Marketing departments, and contributed towards the establishment of the regional cross-border payment service AFAQ (meaning ‘horizon’ in English) as she went on to take on the role of Business Director within the company.
Mona is a firm believer in continuous learning, and after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems at Princess Noura University in Riyadh, she has achieved numerous other academic certificates, including “Strategy and Innovation” from MIT Sloan School of Management; “Essential Management Skills for Emerging Leaders” from Harvard; “Blue Ocean Strategy” from INSEAD Business School, and “Artificial Intelligence in Finance and Open Banking” from the Saïd Business School of Oxford.
